Having been an employee and now being an employer I've encountered many different management styles in the past, from the straight talking "do it or you're fired" approach to the laid back "as long as it get's done that's ok" approach. It seems in recent that the best way to get people to do things is to make it benefit them and lay off on the pressure, e.g. with Virgins recent move to allow unlimited holidays. Also when you consider the studies of Dale Carnegie outlined in 'How to win friends and influence people', the latter would be the best approach. Which approach do you work in favour of?
